Stamping planographic printing |
|
When the packaging is stamped the printed board is cut using a die (a mould). At this stage both the superfluous parts are cut away and the folding lines are cut in. In the second processing phase (see “folding and gluing box carton”) the cut out shape will be folded and glued.
St-Luc has a number of stamping machines with a wide variety of options:
- from simple to very complex shapes
- embossing and debossing (a relief in the board surface)
- perforating and perforated strips
- dies for boxing cardboard and paper.

Folding and gluing boxing carton (fold & glue) |
|
During the second phase for the finish, folding and gluing, a stamped package will first be folded, glued and then closed. A package can thus be completely finished for delivery, ready for use.
St-Luc has all the necessary equipment for finishing boxes, sleeves, displays, pochettes, etc.
There are a number of gluing options available:
- seam-gluing
- four-point gluing
- six-point gluing
- chocolate box
- double-walled
- boxes designed for bottles
- pochette-gluing (with or without a lid)
- ...

A window is the inclusion of a piece of transparent plastic in packaging. It can be a perfect solution, both for functional reasons (so the product does not come into contact with the carton) and for aesthetic reasons (so the product is visible). There are various options when it comes to windows:
- printed or unprinted
- various strengths (thickness)
- mirror film
- microwave cling film

Complete inspection for labels |
|
Onze afweOur finishing lines for plastic sheeting and labels are equipped with the Flyevision system, which enables an excellent printed image inspection. Flyevision checks the text, images, colour and barcodes.
The images are scanned in full with an inline camera. Every printed image is photographed during the finish and compared with the reference values. The moment any differences are apparent, the finishing line is stopped and the poor-quality labels replaced.

So complete inspection provides a number of important advantages:
- optimal image checking
- precise colour verification
- missing label detection
- barcode checking.

The carton – printed or not – is covered with a protective plastic or metal foil layer in the laminating process. This is the actual laminate. A variety of laminates are available, depending on the function. Laminates can be matte or glossy.
The principle reasons for lamination are:
- protection (dirt, moisture or wear)
- grease resistance
- food safety
- aesthetic reasons
